He starred as Angad, a good natured and fully supportive man who becomes contestant on a dance reality show called Aasman Se Aage, in Sagar Arts & 72 Degree Northe's TV production Aasman Se Aage on Life OK. Returning to Hindi films, he had an unnoticed part in the dramatic love story Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai in 2012. Unable to impress neutral audience, it culminated in December 2011. It centered around the life of two orphan sisters, and featured him as the male lead Shravan. In 2011, Sharma appeared in Hats Off Productions's television production Ek Nayi Chhoti Si Zindagi on Zee TV. In his final work of the year, he did a cameo as the strong Aditya Ahlawat, an aspiring politician in the crime drama Kaali – Ek Agnipariksha on Star Plus produced by Undercover Productions Ltd. Next he appeared as Anil and Amit respectively in two different episodes of Fireworks Productions's horror supernatural anthology Aahat on Sony Entertainment Television. Firstly he teamed up with producer Ekta Kapoor for the first time in Bairi Piya for Colors TV as Nirbhay Pundir.
That year, he found his second television role as Aditya Brijesh Singh in the Sphere Origins produced television soap Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar. It saw him enact a rich brat and painter named Kevin Trassavo. The year 2009 marked Sharma's Hindi cinema debut with the release of his first movie, the suspense crime thriller Blue Oranges. It failed to gain good ratings, ending just after 80 episodes in February 2009. He signed the lead role of Rehaan, a Lucknow young man of aristocratic lineage who was sent to London in childhood by his over protective mother before returning to his hometown Lucknow after growing up, in Gul Khan's production debut Chand Ke Paar Chalo for NDTV Imagine that co-starred Yami Gautam and Zalak Thakker. In 2008, Sharma decided to begin his acting career in Hindi television.
